Toning shoes have been a fad that has been around for the last seven years. It started with MBT shoes, and then FitFlops. Then a bunch of other toning shoes sprung up from a variety of shoe manufacturers. All claim to be beneficial for the body, help you burn more calories, and have a more healthy posture. My favorites are , but many like MBT as well. This article will discuss the two shoes, and which is better.
FitFlops is the first toning shoe I will talk about. The was a toning shoe created by the founder of Bliss Spa back in 2007. She researched different shoe ideas with a group of engineers in England, and they developed a technology called Microwobbleboard. Basically, the technology creates instability as you walk. The idea behind this is that if you create instability, it makes the legs work more and helps to tone the muscles. The other key to the FitFlop is the sole of the footwear. It's got multiple layers of padding, which is suppose to alleviate some of the pressure placed on the feet when walking. In turn, it protects the muscles of the legs, feet, and back. FitFlops come in a variety of styles including shoes, sandals, and boots. So they have options for any time of year. The price of this footwear ranges from $30 to $200.
The MBT shoes has been around for many years. It was started over in Germany somewhere. The inventor studied the tribes of Masai and developed a shoe that mimic how they walk. These shoes have a multiple layer sole that is shaped like a boat. They look funny, but they work. They create instability, as does the FitFlops, but in a different way. The rocker sole propels you forward as you walk, working a bunch of different muscle groups. They also have a wide range of shoes, boots, and sandals. The price is much more expensive than FitFlops, with an average price of over $100.
Which is better, Fitflops or MBT? I think the are. Two reasons, price and style. The MBT, even though it is an effective fitness aid, is very goofy looking. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them outside of the house. I see people wearing them out and about and always laugh at them. The price is another biggy. They are expensive. $200 for a pair of goofy shoes? I think not.
That's why I recommend FitFlops. They look pretty stylish, much more than MBT's. Plus, they don't cost and arm and a leg. Sandals are cheap, at under $50, and the shoes and boots are affordable as well.
